Update Summer Dresses With Skinny Belts
Friday, October 1st, 2010Summer may be officially over but that’s no reason to consign your favourite summer dresses to the back of the wardrobe. Here in the UK it’s too cold for bare legs but with a few key accessories you can keep wearing your summer frocks well into autumn. Think tights and cute cardigans to keep you warm and skinny belts to add edge to floaty summer dresses.
You might not immediately think of wearing skinny belts with summer dresses but they are actually a great way to update your favourite dresses. Black and brown skinny belts over floral dresses are perfect for this autumn’s English Folk trend, while studded skinny belts are a great way to toughen up pretty dresses for a more wintery look.
Patent Bow Skinny Belts
I love these patent bow skinny belts. They have a slim belt strap with a cartoony bow. You can wear them with the bow at the front for full-on cute or move it too the side if you want to draw the eye away from your tummy. These skinny belts are made of patent faux leather, so they look sleek and pulled together. You can wear them with floral summer dresses, use them to brighten up plain outfits or even wear them to sharpen up the look of a full skirt.
Studded Skinny Belts
These studded skinny belts are the perfect combination of lightweight autumn style and a tough edge. They are easy to wear and wonÆt add bulk to your outfit but really refresh a summer dress. My personal favourite is the Brown Studded Skinny Belt pictured below. The combination of dark brown and bronze studs looks lovely and autumnal – glam without being flashy. I would wear it to calm down pretty colours like cornflower blue or purple, or to anchor a cute printed sundress. You can also wear these skinny belts with jeans and skirts, so they are a really hardworking accessory to have.
